Therapeutic Exercise - Strengthening, Conditioning, Flexibility

Therapeutic exercises include a broad spectrum of activities, from passive range of motion stretches to stabilization exercises to high-speed agility drills. During treatment we will carefully progress your program by increasing the demands the exercises place on your body until you have improved strength, endurance, flexibility, stability and balance.

Electrical Stimulation - Muscle Re-Education, Pain Management

Electrical stimulation is used to stimulate the healing process of injured tissue, preventing scar tissue and driving ions beneficial to the healing process through the skin into the healing connective tissues.

Patient Education - Self-Care, Posture, Home Exercises.

Our treatment philosophy stresses active patient participation through patient education and home exercise. You will be asked, therefore, to do some activities on your own to optimize your rehabilitation. These could include exercises, stretches, ergonomic modifications, and ice or heat applications.

Myofascial Release

myofascial release

Myofascial Release is a mixture of light stretching and massage to unblock fascia and muscle restrictions throughout the body, restoring total physical harmony.

Within our bodies we have a thin layer of connective tissue and three layers of fascia. When stress and injury take their toll, they create restriction and tightening of these important tissues.

Myofascial Release Benefits: Myofascial Release helps eliminate pain and restores function and circulation through gentle, sustained pressure at various parts of the body. The clients receiving this treatment often find that they have increased range of motion and decreased pain.

Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage, or MLD, is a treatment technique that improves the activity of the lymph vessels by mild mechanical stretches on the wall of the lymph collectors. MLD re-routes the lymph flow around the blocked areas into more centrally located lymph vessels that eventually drain into the venous system. The gentle strokes applied in MLD are intended to stimulate movement of lymphatic fluids to assist the body in cleansing.

Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage Benefits: This treatment enhances the activity of the immune system, decreases pain and lowers activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which are the nerve cells that are involved in the stress response.

Craniosacral Therapy

craniosacral therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch manual approach that enhances the body's natural healing capabilities by releasing muscle restrictions, improving circulation and nervous system functioning. Practitioners employ a force roughly equal to the weight of a nickel.

After several treatments patients feel a deep sense of relaxation that can become a part of their everyday life.

Craniosacral Therapy Benefits: Craniosacral Therapy is used to treat everyday aches and pains, chronic diseases, emotional or psychological disturbances and helps improve health and vitality.

Reiki

Reiki is a method of stress reduction and relaxation using specific hand positions placed gently on or slightly over the body to facilitate healing. It re-establishes a normal energy flow of KI (life-force energy) throughout the system to enhance the body's own healing abilities. Reiki is based on the theory that every living being has life force energy flowing through it. Reiki helps to keep this energy clear and free flowing.

Benefits of Reiki: This form of alternative therapy works in conjunction with other therapies such as chiropractic, physical therapy and acupuncture. It brings healing energy to the different organs and glands in the body.

Zero Balancing

Zero Balancing is a gentle hands-on body-mind therapy. The practitioner uses comfortable finger pressure and gentle traction to engage body structure and body energy. Zero Balancing brings the body back to balance by releasing tension in the bones and joints, soft tissues and energy systems of the body.

Benefits of Zero Balancing: This alternative therapy brings the body back into balance structurally and energetically. It helps to resolve back pain, musculoskeletal aches and pains, headaches and digestive disorders (to name a few).

McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy

The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy is a research based treatment of musculoskeletal disorders globally used by clinicians. It includes the philosophy of active patient involvement: assess, treat, educate, and empower patients.

Meeks Method for Exercise and Movement

The Meeks Method for Exercise and Movement includes conservative care of low bone mass (osteopenia), skeletal fragility ( osteoporosis), postural problems and back pain.

Pilates

pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise which emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement. The core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. When they are strong, they work with the more superficial muscles of the trunk to support the spine.

This is one of the ways Pilates helps people overcome pain in many of the areas of the spine and extremities. As the trunk is properly stabilized, pressure on the back is relieved and the body is able to move freely.
